Here is an example of a letter you can send to companies who advertise on Channel Nine. You can copy and paste this into a document, or use it as a guide to write your own letter. Please note that I have used respectful language, not made any personal attacks, or referred to any specific incidents. I think this is the most effective approach.

To the Head of Marketing,
On Wednesday 6 October Kerri-Anne Kennerly made a comment on the show on Channel Nine describing women who pursue or engage in sexual activity with football players as “strays”. Following a public outcry over this comments Channel Nine issued a clarification stating that responsibility (for rape and sexual assault) “cuts both ways”. They further stated that “[t]he responsibility lies with the girls as well as with the guys when you’re talking about alcohol-fuelled situations at three o’clock in the morning.”
As someone who believes that no one ever deserves to be raped or assaulted, I find these comments hurtful and offensive.
I am extremely disappointed that such a large and powerful media company has made this statement, but as an individual there is not a lot I can do. You are in a very different position as an advertiser on Channel Nine, what you do and say can have an impact.
You have the opportunity to discuss these comments with your advertising agency, to tell them that you and your company don’t believe anyone deserves to be raped or assaulted and to consider reducing your spend with Channel Nine.
I look forward to your considered response.
Regards,
